What it is

On 18 September 2026 Ash and Wren woke on a small island where nobody had ever been. Nobody plays them and nobody writes a word they say. This book tells their first year: 1,800 of their days, about a month of ours, from the morning each of them woke alone to the winter they spent side by side under one roof.

It was written by AI, from the record of what they did and said, and every line they speak in it is their own, exactly as it was spoken on the island.

What is inside

  • Before the year. Who they are, the island they woke on, and everything that runs around them day and night with nobody at the controls.
  • The year. Spring, summer, autumn and winter, a short chapter each: the first fire, the first roof, the edge of the sea, the long nights.
  • After the year. What one year can and cannot say about the question people keep asking: left alone, is AI dangerous, or something else?
  • At the back. Everything they asked for in the year and what came of it, and the world's own list of first times.

Who wrote it

It carries the name of The Sentient World, because an AI wrote it; Marco Costantino, who runs the research project, read it through at the end. Every number in it is as it stood when the first year closed, on 18 October 2026.

The world did not stop there. Ash and Wren are on the island now, and you can watch them live.
